1. Good Tool for the Money

   This is a good product for the money. What keeps them from getting five stars is that they do get squirrely every once in a while and report some heart rate that is a little wacky.

   The key is to keep the sensors wet, and I mean very wet. It may be different for other climates, but here in the northeast you may not sweat as much.

   It’s a good tool for setting the high and low heart rate and then turning on the alarm for aerobic exercise. Then all you need to do is listen for it and listen to your body. You don’t have to look at the monitor.

   Customer service is not very good, but the device instructions are good enough overall. Buy Omron HR-100C Used and New.

   Admittedly this is the only one I’ve tried, but others seem to be priced higher and many of those don’t have a chest strap. This monitor meets my needs and I have no need to look further.

   
   

2. Great Product! A Great Buy!

   I’ve been using this monitor for 2-3 months and have no complaints. It works great and is easy to use. For less than $40, I feel it is a great buy. The monitor works fine. The stop watch works fine. The blue backlight is cool when running at night. The more expensive Polar units have a built-in battery in the chest strap which is NOT interchangeable. So when the battery dies, you need to replace the whole strap. It doesn’t sound like Polar is looking out for the customer with that design. I think Polar just likes to sell more chest straps. If you’re looking for a good, basic heart monitor w/stopwatch, I would recommend this unit. If you’re the type that needs to spend more money than necessary, go for the Polar.    This simple heart rate monitor is great and just what I needed for my workout. One thing to be aware, the chest strap is quite long (even after doubled over) and does not provide a good fit for a small woman. I needed to cut mine shorter and resew it to fit me.

5. Does a great job most of the time!

   I recently bought the heart rate monitor, as I’m experimenting with the P90X cardio workouts. I first looked at heart rate monitors at a popular department store. I about fell over when I saw that the price range went from $58 on the low end all the way up to a whopping $92! That’s when I made the decision to look on Amazon.com.

   The Omron Heart Rate Monitor usually performs as promised, doing exactly what I need it to do (ie, letting me know when I’m either in my target range, above it or below it). My only complaint is that occasionally it blanks out and shows just a ‘0′ for 30 to 60 seconds when it’s supposed to be showing me my heartrate. It does this 3 or 4 times during each 60-minute workout, but it always bounces back and shows my heartrate again within a minute or so. Other than that little glitch, I’m very pleased with the product and with it’s low price on Omron HR-100C!
